    Caring For Your Hair

Welcome to LolaSilk! Now that you know which of our products is the perfect fit for you, it’s time to get into the right routine for taking care of your hair. Before we get started, keep these two tips in mind:

    1. All our hair can be styled and washed just like any regular hair, however, the more you wash and heat style, the shorter its lifespan will be.

    2. Lolasilk Classic and Professional lines are top quality human hair, therefore, for these 2 lines, keeping your hair moisturized is the secret to maintaining its natural glow and silkiness.

Combing your hair at least twice a day with a wide-tooth comb will keep it smooth and reduce any tangling caused by friction between your neck, shoulders and back. If your hair tangles during the day, comb it gently with your fingers.

    2

How to comb: carefully brush your hair with a wide-tooth comb from the tips to the roots. Section off a small portion of hair, hold the section in the middle, then start combing at the bottom of the hair slowly working upwards towards the root until the entire section of hair is smooth and tangle-free. Never brush when the hair is wet as this may cause breakage. It is always better to brush before washing or when the hair is dry.

    3

How to wash your Professional and Classic hair:

    a. Run lukewarm water through the hair. Then, using a mild, highly-moisturizing and sulphate-free shampoo, gently massage the hair working your way down to the tips. Do not rub or twist the hair.

    b. Remove the shampoo with lukewarm water and apply conditioner or a hair mask – we recommend moisturising conditioners with ingredients like argan oil, coconut oil and shea butter.

    c. Make sure that the conditioner/mask is spread all throughout the hair and leave it for minimum 5 min (or follow the recommendation of the product that you are using).

    d. Rinse the hair in cold water at the end to lock in moisture, squeeze out excess water with your fingers and pat dry with a towel. Do not try to brush the hair while it is wet.

    e. Apply a leave in conditioner on the hair then leave to air dry.

Tip: If your hair is curly, try to curl the tips using your fingers before leaving to dry as it will make the curls look amazing.

    f. Never sleep on hair that is not completely dry as it will damage and create undesired patterns.

Wind, humidity and heat can make you hair a little dryer and/or frizzy, which can also cause tangling. To avoid this, try to apply a tiny amount of hair oil after every wash.

Remember, too much serum can also have the opposite effect: it will make your hair look dull and prone to tangling. The more product you have on your hair, the more you will need to wash, which is will shorten its lifespan.

    5

How to style your Professional and Classic hair using heat-based tools:
    a. We recommend using a low heat setting when styling your hair (120˚c). Although your hair can handle much higher temperatures, if you use high heat frequently it will damage the hair, causing breakage and shedding.

    b. If possible, use a heat protection spray prior to blow-drying – this will extend the lifespan of your hair.

    c. Blow-dry your hair from top to bottom. This will help to preserve the cuticles and reduce tangling caused by the environment/everyday life.

    d. Hair straighteners or curling irons (for wavy and curly looks) can be used, but try to set them on low to medium heat to avoid damage.

    Essential Collection (Weaves & Wigs)

Our essential line is made with flexi fibers, which allow you to wash and heat style your hair. Here are a few tips for keeping your Essential hair smooth, tangle-free and refreshed.

    1

How to comb: always comb before you wash using a wide-tooth comb. For curly textures use your fingers to detangle curls instead of a brush. Refrain from brushing your hair when it is wet, as this will cause breakage and extra shedding.

    2

How to wash: Fill a bucket or sink with lukewarm water, add a neutral cleanser to the water and gently move your hands through the hair from top to bottom, always moving in the same direction to avoid tangling. Rinse the hair thoroughly, change the water and add conditioner to the water, repeating the same process. Rinse the hair again, pat dry using a towel and leave it to air dry.

Tip: If your hair is curly, try to curl the tips using your fingers before leaving to dry as it will make the curls look amazing.

    3

If your hair is not a smooth as desired after the previous step, you can use steam to smooth it even more. If you don’t have a steamer, we recommend using a pot of boiling water (please be careful – don’t burn yourself!). Hold the hair over the pot so that the steam rises into the hair while you comb it with a wide-tooth comb. This method is only recommended for the tips of longer weaves and for wigs that are not being worn at the time of steaming.

    4

Because your Essential hair is made with flexi fibers (a heat resistant fiber) you can also style it using a hairdryer, curling iron or hair straightener. We do not recommend exceeding 120˚c when using these styling tools.
